We have worked with PM-SMS for more than 15 years, for example with the well-known particle accelerator of Deutsches Elektronen-SYnchroton (DESY) in Hamburg. DESY is the German national laboratory for high energy physics. It is among the world leaders in the development of particle accelerators and focuses its activities on three main areas:
- The development of accelerators
- Research into photons (including with highly concentrated X-ray and ultra-violet radiation)
- Research into sub-atomic particles
With a particle accelerator, DESY conducts research into electrons (photons). Batenburg Mechatronica supplies ultra-precision resistors for this particle accelerator. These are applied in the Zero-flux measuring system of PM-SMS. With the aid of these measuring systems, DESY is able to make the smallest particles visible. The ultra-precision resistors have high short-term and long-term stability and are ultra-precise. The best-known study with particle accelerators was the discovery of the Higgs boson particle (the ‘God particle’), the most intensively-sought particle in the world.
